Shadowplay

Shadowplay is a puzzle platformer video game designed by Jason Frost and Tim Turnidge. Developed using the Unity3D platform, Shadowplay seeks to create a unique and rewarding experience for the player through new forms of gameplay.

In Shadowplay, the player plays a puppet, controlling him toward a goal that is not fully revealed until the end of the game. The gameplay of Shadowplay revolves around the player’s ability to switch between two modes: “light mode” and “shadow mode”. One could comment that Shadowplay was a spiritual successor to White-Space in terms of game mechanics.

Worlds

Not so much a game, more of an interactive performance, or VJ set utilizing a game engine. I used the Unity 3D engine and a gamepad to control the visuals. I was inspired by the video Star Guitar by Michel Goundry.

The premise behind this was to create a engaging video for the viewer by syncing on screen visual elements with a backing audio track. The idea behind this was that you could theoretically add any audio to this and still make an engaging video by mixing it yourself on the fly.

Worlds was created over an eight week period.

White-Space

White Space was my first game design project, working with Tim Turnidge and Szilard Ozorak. The game was designed as a platform puzzler. The core game mechanic was allowing the player to switch between white and black, revealing hidden solutions for platforming.

The game ushers the player foward by increasing the blur until the game is unplayable. To remedy this, you must collect the red power-ups strewn across the levels to alleviate the blur and allow you to continue. White-Space was developed over a eight week period by a team of four, utilizing the Unity 3D game design engine. My primary roles were character and level design.

AR Analog

Project AR Analog was a 'serious' game design project. It aimed at creating awareness for the environment by awarding points for reducing your impact on the environment.

The game was flash based and loaded onto an HP Ipaq Pocket PC. This would track GPS co-ordinates and upload your progress to a flash based alternate reality city, which would change depending on your choices. My main roles for this project were GUI design and branding of the product.
